If you don't see the information you're looking for, please stop by our Information Booth during the event or contact us before the festival. We're happy to help make your Chalkfest experience as colorful, creative, and enjoyable as possible.

Chalkfest is a free outdoor arts festival where professional, amateur, and student artists transform pavement into spectacular works of art using chalk and pastel.

The event this year is hosted on Main Street from the intersection with Arbor Lakes Parkway (City Hall) and goes north incorporating Town Green. The Festival ends at the Lakeview Drive (Library)

No. Chalkfest is free and open to the public.

Saturday June 13 - 10am to 6pm.
Sunday June 14 - 10am to 6pm.
Monday June 15 - Until it is washed away in the evening.

There is parking at the south end in the City Hall lot and at the north end in the ramp near the Library. Not the Library street lot.
After that please look for other street parking and walk back to the Festival. -
We have tried to make it more accessible this year, with wider walkways.
We have accessible bathrooms, both at Town Green and also two sets of temporary facilities. -
Yes - we will have a DJ playing popular songs and then two live artists - one each day around the lunch hour.

We will have Kimco Kidz Zone at Town Green, featuring a large street wide mandala and also some arts and crafts provided my Maple Grove Arts Center.

We are only allowing service dogs on the weekend. This is for everyone’s safety and comfort.
You may bring your dog on the Monday to stroll the art in peace.
We have found that crowds can be stressful for dogs and some people are adverse to dogs. -
Yes - we will have ample choices for a wide variety of festival foods.
We also have two local businesses providing beer/wine and other alcohol. You will be asked for ID and given a wrist bracelet to wear. We have a large alcohol perimeter covering the entire Festival area. -
Yes. Portable and/or permanent restroom facilities are available on site.

This is a rain or shine event. The artists are well versed in dealing with light rain showers.
In the case of severe weather, listen for announcements from MGPD and MGFD. -
We will have a huge free color mandala color on the ground in the middle of the Festival with other exciting kids events.

Please do not step on completed or in-progress artwork. Help us preserve the artists' creations by staying outside the designated boundaries.

Absolutely! We encourage visitors to photograph the artwork and share their experience on social media.

Yes. Most artists enjoy interacting with visitors while they work, though please be respectful and avoid interrupting them during detailed portions of their creations.

Many artists spend between 10 and 20 hours creating their artwork over the course of the festival.
We advise visitors to come a few times throughout the weekend to watch the progress. In the past most artworks are complete by 4pm on the Sunday. -
No. Chalk art is temporary and it will be washed away on the Monday 15th in the evening around 7pm.

We will have an information booth at the Festival. We will try to keep that staffed. Otherwise look for volunteers or staff walking the Festival. They will be wearing Festival shirts.
